Love is the Unexpected Part
Perhaps you have forgotten that you are on a journey—that your feet travel daily on the surface dust of a celestial orb racing through the cosmos.
Your origin is shrouded in mystery. Some of it, of course, you know. You were conceived by the union of a man and a woman. Parents who came before you, from parents who came before them. But the uniqueness of you—your sentience, your personality, your very soul—remains a secret that belongs to God. (Deut. 29:29, Ecclesiastes 12:7, Psalm 139:15)
God.
Scripture describes Him as the universe Creator. The One who by His breath made the celestial orb on which we live and move and have our being. (Acts 17:28)
As Creator, He is utterly set apart. Holy.
As Creator, He decides the rules. Supreme.
As Creator, He is not bound by time and space as we know it. He oversees all things. So, while we trudge through the dust unsure of what’s to come, He is never unsure.
He knows.
And, He cares.
Because He loves…
Love is the unexpected part.
Love is the reason He gave us a choice to begin with—a choice to stay with Him or to part ways…(Genesis 2:16-17) True love doesn’t force reciprocation.
Love is the reason He wrote to us—even after we chose to go our own way. He wrote to us on tablets of stone, on walls, on scrolls—even on our very hearts. Rules and instructions for how life works best. Histories of the past and prophecies for the future. He wrote stories that would teach us, songs that would revive us, poems that would comfort us, and laments that would sustain us.
Love is the reason He took on flesh to join us. The reason He came to trudge along beside us in the dust. Immanuel—God with us.
Better known simply as Jesus.
Jesus came to uncover the ancient path in the dust that would lead us back to God.
Jesus came to reveal that He is the way that will lead us back to God.
Jesus came because He cares.
And because He loves… you.
