Who is Jesus? (Part 3)
No matter what you have heard about Jesus, no matter what you believe about Him—even if you have spent your entire life trying to study and understand the complexity of His nature—He is greater than you think He is.
He is greater than anything or anyone you can imagine because Jesus is the only One who can reconcile you with God by making peace through His blood shed on the cross.
But your iniquities have separated
you from your God;
your sins have hidden His face from you.
Isaiah 59:2
Sin separates us from God, but Jesus connects us because He is our mediator, our atoning sacrifice, and our redeemer. As the only “Son of God” and “Son of Man,” Jesus was uniquely qualified to represent both God and humankind. As the “Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world,” only He could bear the burden of humanity’s sins. And as the “Savior of the world,” only Jesus could live the sinless life that you could not live, pay the ransom price that you could not pay, die the agonizing death that you could not die, and defeat the grave over which you could not prevail. Only His arms outstretched on the cross could open the gates of heaven with one hand and capture the keys to the gates of hell with the other.
In a divine exchange, Jesus took on your sin and gave you His righteousness. By doing so, He not only paved the way to God, He became the Way to God.
Jesus answered,
“I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me.”
